As part of his performance last night at Charlotte’s Time Warner Cable Arena, rock-n-roll legend Bruce Springsteen pledged to match any gift of up to $50,000 to Second Harvest Food Bank. The Springs Close Foundation responded to the call with the maximum gift, $50,000, securing a $100,000 donation for the Food Bank which will be used for Lancaster, Chester and York Counties. The gift equals approximately 60,000 pounds of food for needy residents.
“This was a perfect opportunity to help amplify the Foundation’s current focus on providing emergency and basic needs to the South Carolina communities we serve,” said Angela McCrae, the Foundation’s president. “It was the perfect chance to leverage our own philanthropy and help raise awareness of a local need with the help of an international star.”
